My name is Njoki and I am a qualified BA Social Worker and Post Graduate MA in Play Therapy and Advanced Filial Therapy. My experience has included working in a Looked After Team as a social worker and later working in a CAMHS Team. I have 20 years experience of working with families and young people who have experienced adversities, such as trauma, and other factors that impact on their psychological well being. I recently completed my EMDR Psychotherapy which I can integrate into Play Therapy or use EMDR as a stand-alone therapy for children and adults who have experienced trauma.
I work in a person-centred way and I am dedicated and equally passionate in working together with children, young people and their families and working within diversity. I love the power of play and creative arts in helping to bring about relief to psychological distress. In my clinical work I work closely with parents/carers, professionals and the child’s network. My training and work experience gives me clinical confidence to explore what clients bring. I am also humble to welcome families’ wealth of knowledge because much of my learning equally has been from them.
Outside of my work, I enjoy yoga, weight lifting and dancing. I equally enjoy travel. My two adult children and grandson keep me grounded.
