Biography
I have over 18 years clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist, specialising in working with children for the past 14 years. My experience includes acute and community NHS settings, as well as working in the private sector.
I have supported infants, children and young people with complex developmental, sensory, neurological and physical needs. I bring a wealth of experience in assessing activities of daily living, play, handwriting and fine motor skills, ensuring to promote independence and recommend adaptive equipment as I feel is appropriate.
I have a special interest in how sensory systems impact on motor and processing skills in relation to occupational performance. Completing comprehensive, play-based and functional assessments helps me to identify strengths, barriers and meaningful therapeutic goals. I aim to develop personalised rehabilitation programmes that are creative, engaging, child-centred and that can be realistically embedded into daily life and routines.
Using sensory based questionnaires and clinical observations, I aim to gain a picture of the child’s sensory processing skills and needs. I am able to provide practical advice and sensory strategies to young people, their families and schools to ensure that their sensory needs are met.
I am confident in delivering training and guidance to families, support workers and education staff, ensuring that therapy advice is delivered effectively and that the physical, functional and sensory needs of the child or young person is met.
