Biography
Hi, a little bit about me…. I have over 12 years’ experience in the NHS line managing admin teams, within various mental health departments. Mental health has always interested me, and I believe everyone has the right to GOOD mental health and wellbeing. Unfortunately, life likes to throw us obstacles and this can influence our emotional state and resilience. That’s where counselling comes in, to provide a safe, empathetic, non-judgemental space for individuals to explore their emotions, feelings, thoughts and behaviours.
I practice person-centred counselling, meaning the only person who is an expert on the client is in fact themselves. The fundamental principle is given the right conditions, anyone can reach their full potential and become their true self; sometimes we just need a trusted person who we can talk and reflect with to get there.
I, from both personal experience and looking after family members, understand what it is like living with poor mental health. It was after a sudden, traumatic family loss that I decided to stop delaying my dreams and changed my career path to train as a counsellor. It is here at eQuiPT where I have completed my placement and learnt so much knowledge.
I particularly like work with adults and teenagers and enjoy studying about attachment theory and how early trauma can impact on people later in life. I absolutely LOVE to bring creativity into sessions when appropriate, believing it helps clients to visualise and see things from different perspectives.
In my spare time, I love nature and animals, at heart I’m a real homebody and love nothing more than a nice cup of tea, curled up all cosy.
