Biography

Hi, I’m Lucy and I am a Dramatherapist also trained in EMDR. Dramatherapy is a powerful, creative form of psychotherapy that goes beyond language. Sessions may include story telling, story creation, role play, mask work, puppets and movement.  I believe everyone deserves the space to be heard, to explore, and to be supported to thrive. I also believe that everyone can be creative in their own way. Therefore sessions will be tailored to the individual person and their needs. As I have trained in EMDR, I often use this approach either alongside Dramatherapy or as a specific intervention. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) can help to reduce distress that occurs due to trauma and helps people to heal.

Since completing my training in 2021, I have mainly specialised in supporting young people who have experienced domestic abuse. This has included group work in primary schools and 1-1 long term therapy. I am also trained as an Escape the Trap facilitator; a programme which supports young people to recognise unhealthy relationships and abuse. In addition, I have worked in a mainstream secondary school delivering support for a wide range of difficulties such as anxiety, self harm, low mood, self image and peer issues.

Prior to my training I have worked in education support and management roles. I enjoy building relationships with new people and providing a warm, safe space for all. Where I can I continue to be involved in local amateur theatre and performance. My other hobbies include ice skating, calligraphy and watercolour painting.
