Biography

I'm an Art Psychotherapist with a background and training in Performing Arts and Drama. My approach is child centred, led by the individual child's needs and I support each child to express themselves using a range of creative modalities. I'm comfortable working fluidly between art-making, story-telling, character work, role-play, games, safe spaces and a whole heap of fun and imagination. This helps the child to feel safe enough to share, work through and process difficult feelings and unresolved trauma. I have 10 years of clinical experience working with Looked After Children, carers and adopted children and their families. This experience has given me the opportunity to work across a range of settings, including BESD residential school for boys, LAC residential homes, PRU's, infant/primary/high schools and children's centres. Essential to my work and at the heart of all that I do is creating an attuned, positive and trusting relationship with the child. I am also trained in Sandtray therapy and am a guest lecturer at Chester University on the Art Psychotherapy Foundation Course.
