Biography
I’m Michael, an HCPC-registered Music Therapist, committed to using music as a powerful medium for emotional expression, communication, and connection. My therapeutic approach is client-led, using free improvisation, playfulness, and creativity to enable individuals to explore and express themselves in ways that feel safe and meaningful.
My work focuses on supporting social interaction, emotional expression, confidence-building, and self-advocacy. I place strong emphasis on building trusting therapeutic relationships and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, joined-up support.
I have experience working with adoptive families, offering music therapy to children and caregivers where developmental trauma, attachment needs, emotional regulation, and identity exploration are central. This has deepened my understanding of relational safety, co-regulation, and the unique ways music can support connection and repair.
Alongside this, I work in a college setting delivering both individual and group music therapy sessions for young adults aged 16–25 with profound and multiple learning disabilities. I am a member of the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT) and continue to develop my practice through the BAMT Newly Qualified Music Therapist (NQMT) mentoring scheme, supporting ongoing reflection, professional growth, and high-quality therapeutic work.
