Biography

I am a passionate Drama/ EMDR therapist, proudly registered with the HCPC. My aim is to be playful, curious and empathetic so as to create a space for children and families to identify, explore and heal from their trauma.

My integrative approach draws upon all creative modalities, drama, music, play, art and movement, to create a space that feels safe and allows for connection between the therapist and child/ family.  Psychoeducation is also a crucial part of my work which enables the child and families to develop a greater awareness and understanding of their brain and bodies.

My clinical experience with children, families and young people stems back to 2014. Many of my initial roles were on a voluntary basis and took place in a children's hospice and a learning disability service for adolescents and young adults. In 2016, I commenced work in a domestic violence agency as a therapeutic practitioner, focusing specifically on the attachment between the child and the mother over a six-week period. Alongside this, I worked as a freelance Dramatherapist working in a number of secondary and primary schools, successfully delivering individual and group therapy between 2016-2019.

Since 2019, I have worked within adoption, SGO's and fostering, specialising in attachment and dissociation. In 2021, I trained in eye movement, desensitisation and re-processing (EMDR) which is an integral part of my approach and something I particularly enjoy using with both the children and parents.
