Hi my name is Tyler I am an enthusiastic and driven Music Therapist who is passionate about creativity, exploration and the potential that lies in people.  

My approach to Music Therapy is always client led and can look and sound like anything at all. There is no single way to engage in Music Therapy and each person may wish to lead their sessions in many different ways. With my background in Music Technology and Production, I offer the opportunity to move away from traditional Music Therapy techniques and explore a world of sounds and creativity that often people have not experienced. This modern approach adds lots of versatility to the work and gives so much potential for exploration and creativity. My goal is always to create space in the room for these curious opportunities to provide challenges and intrigue in a safe and encouraging manner.  

My experience includes the mental health sector, primarily working with women with various acute mental illnesses where I have worked to support and establish therapeutic relationships. Working with diagnosis such as personality disorders, complex PTSD, trauma and psychotic disorders I place importance on a non-judgemental approach and an awareness of the importance of past experiences of children and adults alike.  

My other roles have included placements with a children's hospice providing Music Therapy sessions. This role allowed me to see the value of versatility in the Music Therapy space and has installed a passion for working with children forming therapeutic relationships to explore together and develop communication through the music. I also composed many sessions in schools and homes for those who could not travel to the hospice.  

I also have years of experience working in residential learning disabilities and residential children's services. Here I gained strong experience with autism, learning difficulties, emotional disregulation and attachment.  

In my free time, of course I love music! Attending concerts, writing songs and listening but I also love sports such as Tennis and Ice Hockey as well as hiking in the peak district.
